As the modern church has shifted its focus towards evangelism and away from the glory of God, its witness to a lost world has been severely weakened. Evangelism is a by-product of the pursuit of God’s glory. When the glory of God motivates the church, history is changed as was the case with the reformation. When evangelism is the primary motivation, larger churches are the result, but culture and countries remain in darkness as is the case in 21st Century America.
If we wish to see the Spirit’s fruit nourish our lives and impact the next generation we must return to the passionate pursuit of the glory of God in all of life. I Peter 2 & 3 provides the blueprint for a church that is salt and light and one that bears witness to power of Christ that changes lives for God’s glory.
